This 8" across and 1 1/2" deep cream soup bowl is English semi-porcelain pottery, maker Royal Staffordshire, Burslem, with an inky dark blue Art Nouveau design accented with gold. The design is a transfer underglaze with the gold added after firing by hand. The design is slightly flowed but still crisp. It is easy to make out the irises worked into a swag and ribbon pattern. The pottery is very white. This design dates from 1907. The bowl is in fine original condition with only a bit of wear around the rim.
