This 5" in diameter fruit bowl is English ironstone pottery, maker Burgess & Leigh, with a flow blue transfer-ware design. The ware is called "flow blue" because the transfer design "flowed" during the firing, creating a soft, blurred effect. The design is scenic with a man and woman in the foreground and romantic castles in the background. There is a fanciful border as well. "Nonpareil" is a very well-known and collectible pattern. This 1" deep bowl is in excellent original condition with no issues. This bowl dates from between 1891 and 1919.
