With its long, flexible bowl that is exquisitely chased with two cherubs and a female figure, this Italianate server's purpose is obscure, but its beauty is undeniable. The etched design, framed with a border of grape leaves, is artistic and detailed. The long handle is simple yet elegant, and hollow as well, taking great skill to create. There are marks shown in the photographs which I have been unable to identify. The handle and bowl both test sterling. I estimate this piece to be about 100-125 years old. The piece is in excellent overall condition but with one 2" scratch on the bowl. The piece is 11 1.2" long by 2 3/4" wide and weighs 2 oz.
