This gorgeous celluloid comb dates from around 1920. Celluloid is an early plastic that was no longer made after 1930 or so. The color of the plastic mimics tortoise-shell. There are blue and green rhinestones set into the top of the comb in a fleur de lis design. The celluloid is molded into a fancy design of plumes, a lovely background for the rhinestones. Combs such as these were worn decoratively, setting off the elaborate hair-styles of the era. This comb is in excellent original condition and may be worn if desired. It measures 5 1/2" by 4" by 1" deep with lots of curvature.
