These pretty sterling silver earrings are from Mexican artisan Isidro Garcia Pina. His trademark is "Maricela," his daughter's name. The earrings are marked on the back. The earrings have a spiraling design that is very light in feel. This design is typical of Maricela pieces. They are decorated with niello work in the grooves, and each earring is set with a small bezel-set amethyst. Each earring measures just under 1" X 3/4" wide. The fasteners are screws, used extensively before the 1960's (these earrings date between 1940 and 1965.) Pina worked between 1940 and 1980. The earrings are in excellent original condition and weigh 7 grams the pair.
