This pottery plate from English maker Winkle & Co, Stoke on Trent, features a deep cobalt blue design. The design is a transfer underglaze that "flowed" during firing, hence the term "flow blue." The pattern, "Togo," is a decorative one with a floral border and a scenic interior design. The rim of the plate has a raised design in the pottery as well. The scene is that of a fanciful village with a chapel and tree to one side and a lake with two boats in the foreground. The plate measures 9 3/4" in diameter and is 1" deep. The design is clearly discernible in spite of flowing of the glaze. This plate is in fine vintage condition; there is some crazing on the back and surface wear on the front. There are no chips, cracks, or stains. This plate was made sometime between 1890 and 1925.
