Vintage Depression-Era Patchwork Quilt with Circular Pattern
This beautiful, large quilt is shown on a full sized bed and measures 80" X 90." It could fit a queen sized bed as well. The design, made up of wedges and triangles, resolves into circles. The pattern, while not on a tiny scale, is expertly pieced by hand with the maker negotiating all of the curved seams with the skill of experience. The resulting design has great movement. I can find no name for the pattern in my books; the design may be an original one. The fabrics are all 100% cotton; many apron and house-dress prints of different colors have been used along with the pink border fabric. The quilt is from a Chicago-area collection and probably originated from the Midwest. It has never been used and is its original, never-washed condition. (It is washable in the washing machine, dry-able in the dryer; do not use hot water; expect around 10% shrinkage the first time it is washed.)
