This beautiful ring dates from around 1890. It is made of 14K rose gold, not marked but tested. It has been sized up to a 7 1/2. The band is 1/4" wide with a pretty design in relief on either side of the stone. The stone is a large (at least 8 carats) emerald-cut amethyst of good color and excellent clarity. The stone is in flawless condition. It measures 5/8" long by 7/16" wide by 3/8" thick. The stone is prong-set with 8 prongs holding it. Three of the prongs are slightly shorter than the others, but there are no rough edges, and the stone is secure. This ring is comfortable to wear, and on a size 7 1/2 finger does not turn. This gorgeous antique piece in wonderful condition is a rare find.
