Here is an Art Nouveau (ca. 1900) buckle, cast in sterling silver with beautiful repousse work, that has been made into a brooch. The prongs still rotate, making this a great scarf pin. The hand-wrought design features cherubs worked into the design. There is a punch-mark on the back which I cannot identify. This pin is probably European in manufacture and is at least 100 years old and probably older. The pin bar and safety catch were added around 1920-1930. This pin is in fine condition with some surface wear from polishing over the years. The fittings are completely functional. The pin measures 3" long X 1 3/4" wide and may be worn both vertically and horizontally. It weighs 31.2 grams.
