These unusual decorated tins date back to the Depression Era with their black background decoration. There are colorful ribbon-embellished nosegays of pansies in yellow, purple, blue, and pink decorating the tins. The 12" tall (5" in diameter) yarn-storage tin has a hole in the lid. The hole allows a strand of yarn to be drawn out through it. The flat tin (5" tall, 9" in diameter) is for storage of miscellaneous sewing items. Both tins have handles, riveted to their bodies, that swivel for easy carrying. These tins may be used for other things, of course, but their original use was for sewing and knitting supplies. They are quite decorative as well as functional. The tins are both in excellent vintage condition. There is a bit of flaking and rust due to age, but no dents, scratches, or major signs of wear. The enameled surface of both tins is remarkably intact. The flat tin's handles do show some wear.
