This twin-sized quilt is a beautiful shade of green called "Nile Green," mixed with pure white, and dates from around 1920-1930 when this dye was first invented. The pattern is very graphic; it is picturesquely called "Hearts and Gizzards." The hearts are apparent. The fabrics are 100% cotton; this quilt is machine washable and may be dried in the dryer. It freshly washed and ready to place on a twin bed. It measures 60" X 84" and is shown on a full-sized bed. The workmanship on this quilt is very fine; curved seams were pieced by hand, straight seams by machine. The scalloped binding is blind-stitched by hand. The quilting design is of a full-blown rose in each large area. Quilting is by hand at 9-10 stitches per inch. The quilt is in excellent overall condition, especially for its age. It has seen some use. The green (also used on the back) is a bit faded. There is clumping of the batting around the border. This quilt would be lovely on a little girl's bed. It was found in the Chicago area.
