This pin from around the turn of the twentieth century is hand-painted with pink roses on porcelain. The oval porcelain pellet is attached by six prongs to a brass backing. Pins such as these were products of popular porcelain-painting classes patronized by artistic ladies of the era. This pin is delicately decorated with four full-blown roses, three pink and one red. There is green foliage. The background is creamy white; there is gold trim around the edge. This pin is in excellent original condition. There are no marks. It measures 1 1/4" wide by 1 5/8" high. The fittings include a safety catch, which looks as it it was added later. Most of these pins originally had a C-catch. This sweet keepsake would be a nice gift for the rose-fancier in your life.
