Biscuit jars were on every night stand and practically every tea tray at the turn of the century. This English pottery jar is marked "Lovique England" inside of a shield. It dates from between 1890 and 1940. It is beige-colored pottery with a pretty dark olive green and soft orange design. There is some crazing in the glaze but the jar is in excellent condition with no chips or staining. The frame, lid, and handle are silver-plate, marked on the inside of the lid, "EPNS," or "electro-plated nickel silver." There is some wear on the frame. This jar is 6 1/2" tall and 5 1/2" in diameter.
