This elegant long-handled fork dates from the late Nineteenth century. It was designed to hang on the handle of a Victorian pickle castor and was used to serve pickles. It is from Towle Silversmiths of Newburyport, Mass. The pattern is similar to that of "Pomona," which dates from 1887. The raised repousse design of the handle is that of apples, plums, and grapes. The pickle fork is 8 5/8" long X 3/4" wide and weighs .9 oz. It is in excellent original condition.
