Here is a mid-nineteenth century English ironstone platter in blue and white with a scenic center. The transfer underglaze design is blurred as flow blue designs are blurred, but I am not sure that this platter qualifies as flow blue, because the color is a light blue. The style of mark is that used during the 1850's. The mark is so blurred that I cannot identify the maker or the design; possibly it is "Verona". The design is a Classical one with Greek statuary and urns in the foreground and a mansion and park in the background. There is crazing on the front and wear on the back and rim, but the platter is in excellent condition for its age with no stains, chips, cracks, scratches, or other damage. It measures 15 1/4" X 13" X 1 1/4" deep. This is a decorative piece, but it also could be used to serve a roast or chicken.
