This Victorian (ca. 1890) necklace is in excellent original condition with no damage, repairs, or discernible wear. It consists of a flat book chain with clover-shaped, double-sided links and a fancy, front-closing clasp that is set with a tiny agate stone cameo. The front of the clasp looks like a fancy slide and is trimmed with raised decoration around the oval bezel-set cameo. The cameo, only 1/4" high, is a brown and white carved agate of Queen Victoria in profile. Below the mounting are two decorative "tassels" that repeat the book chain design. There is a hook on the back of the clasp; one could hang something, such as a long fob, from it. The necklace is easy to wear; it is light-weight and clasps in the front. It is 16" long with the pendant dropping another 1 3/4." The pendant is 3/4" wide and 3/8" thick. There are no marks.
