This wonderful old Mexican silver necklace really makes a statement. It is 20" long, draping nicely below the neck, the links moving easily. The clasp is a hook, very easy to work. Dropping from the links are six silver medallions, each set with a clear cabochon amethyst stone. The bezel-set stones are 1/2" in diameter. The drops make the necklace 2 3/8" wide. The piece is of cast construction and is hand-wrought. It is not signed but marked "Taxco" (a town in Southern Mexico that sits on a mountain of silver) and "980" on the clasp. This necklace is almost pure silver and the amethysts are gem quality. Pieces with this type of mark date from the 1930's into the 1940's. This necklace is in excellent original condition. It weighs 121.8 grams, or 4.3 oz.
