Here is a plastic ring dating from around 1920. It is black celluloid, a plastic that was discontinued around 1930 because of its flammability. This plastic has one special property that made it important; it holds a photographic image. Early film was celluloid; theaters caught fire; thus its impracticality. This ring holds the image of an old lady with white hair; she is in Victorian dress. It is probably a memorial ring; such rings may have been given to relatives and friends at memorial services. This ring is a size 8. The width is just over 5/8." This ring is in excellent original condition.
