This small serving bowl is English ironstone pottery from Wm. Adams & Co. of Tunstall and dates from 1891 or a little after. The pattern is "Fairy Villas" with a nice darker shading in parts of the design. The transfer underglaze is a beautiful deep blue with blurring (flowing) of the design, a romantic Oriental temple scene. The lip of the bowl has a raised scroll design. There is no gold. This bowl is a hard-to-find size, measuring 8" in diameter and 1 1/2" deep. The condition is excellent with no chips, cracks, stains, or crazing.
