This oval brass picture frame has an elegant simplicity. It is cast brass with a tiny raised design in the border. The inner and outer edges of the frame have been brightly finished and contrast with the frame's matte finish. The glass is convex, a nice feature. This helps give dimension to the photograph within. This estate frame is 4 3/8" X 6" and holds a 4 1/4" X 5 1/4" photograph. There is a Victorian studio card photo (not original) included with this frame. The backing is patinated brass and fits snugly into the frame. It features a sturdy brass easel held by a hinge. Marks on the hinge read "Pat applied for." To open the frame, grip the edges and push down carefully on the glass near the edge. The frame dates from around 1900 to 1920. It is in excellent original condition.
