This pristine condition quilt is a bright red pinwheel design on a white ground with a matching red blind-stitched binding. Basic yet effective. All fabrics used are high thread-count cottons. The red should be colorfast. This quilt has never been washed; pencil lines show where the quilting template was placed. The quilt is a larger size than normally seen in a vintage quilt; it measures 80" wide by 100" long. This is a true queen size. The quilt is shown sideways over a full. The age of this quilt could be anywhere from 1900 to 1960, but I suspect it is from around 1960, the advent of the queen-sized bed, because of its excellent size. No matter, this one is a beauty. The pinwheel blocks of this quilt were pieced by hand, but the long seams were done on the machine. The quilting is hand-quilting, 6-7 stitches per inch. Condition doesn't get any better than this. This quilt is part of a collection put together during the 1980's and 1990's here in the Chicago area.
