This fun quilt is in the figural "Pine Tree" design, a traditional pattern originating during the early nineteenth century in the Northeast. It is elegantly pieced, entirely by machine, of beautiful emerald green and pure white cotton. The geometric quilting is by hand at 9-10 stitches per inch. The shade of green used in this quilt eliminates great age; it had to have been made after 1920 or 1930, possibly as late as 1950. The quilt is in excellent original condition. It is a twin-size, measuring 66" X 84." (There used to be a three-quarter size bed early in the 20th century; this quilt was made for such a bed.) This is a great quilt to decorate with, especially with country antiques or at the Holidays. It is sturdy, washable in the washing machine in cold water. It was part of a collection formed by a Chicago area collector during the 1980's and 1990's.
