This unusual Victorian-era pebble brooch has the tube hinge, long pin bar, and C-catch characteristic of the period. There are no markings, but the pin tests sterling. It is probably Scottish in origin. It is inlaid with beautiful striated pieces of green malachite, each slightly different in shape, and framed in silver. There is one raised piece of malachite with a silver tab below it that looks like the knot of a cravat. In addition, there is a tiny, sweet engraved silver buckle as decoration. This pin is 1 3/8" wide X 1 1/2" high X 1/4" thick and weighs 11.6 grams. It is in excellent original condition.
