This lovely cameo brooch has a bail attached to the back that is invisible when it is worn as a pin, but enables it to be worn on a chain as a pendant, if one wishes. The mounting is heavy cast silver, unmarked, but testing 900. The beaded bezel is slightly raised above the cameo itself, framing it like a portrait. The cameo is of shell, very delicately carved, with a beautiful face, and framed with lovely hair. There is a bouquet of flowers on her shoulder. This pin has a French slide-cap safety catch. The pin dates from around 1900-1920. It is in excellent original condition. It measures 1 1/2" high X 1 1/8" wide X 1/4" thick and weighs 9.4 grams.
