This pretty biscuit (or cracker) jar is English pottery with a frame, handle, and lid marked "EPNS;" this is English silver-plate. (EPNS means electroplated nickel silver.) There is no country mark on this piece; it was probably never meant for export. It dates from somewhere between 1890 and 1930, the years when hand-painting was a popular hobby. This piece is nicely done with eight panels, each with its own partially open pink rose. There is a bit of gold trim remaining. The metal shows little wear; this piece is in overall excellent original condition. It measures 7 1/2" tall when the handle is up; it is 6 1/2" in diameter.
