Here is a ca. 1880-1890 gold-filled book chain in excellent condition; I can see no wear on the gold layer; it measures 18 1/2" long and 1/2" wide. Attached is an oval gold-filled locket engraved on both sides. Each side is different; one side features geometric engraving and an etched oak leaf; the other features an arrowhead shaped area decorated with black pique enamel work. The locket is also in really fine condition with no wear apparent on the gold layer. Inside, the locket included both bezels and oval glasses. There is a memento of hair inside; it was a popular Victorian custom to save the hair of a loved one. The locket is 1 1/2" long by 7/8" wide by just over 1/4" thick. It opens easily by pulling against two knobs on the closure. This is a fine piece of Victoriana.
