This 10K gold ring is marked on the inside of the band; there is also a hallmark next to the gold mark. This ring is from around the turn of the twentieth century. The black onyx stone is an octagon with prongs on the corners holding the stone to the mount. But it has been carved so that the raised surface is an oval. The oval is convex and holds a small, European-cut diamond in an diamond-shaped white gold setting in its center. The diamond and its setting have been riveted to the onyx. The mounting is simple yet elegant and raises the stone up a bit. The stone measures 5/8" X 1/2." The ring is a size 7. This ring is in good original condition. The onyx has one tiny chip, visible in the photographs. Otherwise, it is fine for its age.
