This charming Victorian brooch was a gift to a very lucky lady in 1864. An inscription appears to read A.A.M. to M.G.T, Oct. 23, 1864. The lovely natural amethyst, with a visible inclusion, is delicately faceted and open backed for maximum reflection. It is surrounded by beautiful seed pearls and set in an ornate 18K gold mounting with a hinged section of gold tassels which are all present. On the back is an old style c clip and long pin. The brooch is in excellent condition with no scratches or dents. The brooch is 2-3/4” from top to bottom of tassels, 1-1/2” wide and weighs 10 dwt. The gold was acid tested.
