This wonderful covered jar is draped with vining leaves and on its shoulder, a cricket!

The jar is carved from a chunk of hardstone** and ranges in color from pale green to a rust color (comes from iron in the stone). It retains all its veining (NO cracks - just natural striations within the stone). It comes complete with its stand which has been customized to receive the base. The cover fits perfectly atop the jar base.

It is in excellent condition and stands 8 1/2" including about 1" for the wooden base. It is about 5" across at the widest.

**Hardstone refers to a group of stones which include such stones as agate, carnelian, jade, amber, and onyx and which EXCLUDE "soft" stones such as soapstone and alabaster and all of the stones often mistermed Jade, such as hunan or honan jade (which is actually not jade at all).
