This is one of the world's most avidly collected sterling silver patterns of all time!
This large piece was made at the turn of the ca. 1899.
As an admirer of the art nouveau era, I think this pattern is more Art Nouveau than Victorian in its representation. The periods overlapped. I say this because of the fine and sinuously depicted vines and flowers as well as the very three dimensional woman with child. The details are extraordinary!
The 'business' end of the server is wonderfully pierced and is 3 1/4" wide. The fish slice measures 12 3/4' long. It weighs slightly over 8 ounces.
It has been very lightly hand-polished and if you like your silver looking like it was made this afternoon, you might wish to have it machine polished. It's your choice. We prefer it with its natural patina which is lost when machine polished. The condition is excellent with what one would expect from a 100+ year old that was used on occasion.
This item is worthy of the most dramatic of settings - a family heirloom for sure!
