The Royal Crown Derby company has earned its reputation and 'royal' title over the last 300 years. Queen Victoria added the 'Royal' to its mark in 1890.
RCD produces a line of figural porcelains that are called 'paperweights'. They each have a removable gold topped stopper on the base that allows one to add sand to allow it to function as a paperweight. Most collectors, however, leave it as is and display it just as it is.
This one is in the form of a leaping dolphin and is in excellent condition. The deep cobalt blue and contrasting gold is a signature decoration of the company. This one measures 7" x 4".
