This is a very large, 9 5/8" serving fork. Because it is also gold-washed, it is perfect for serving all those saltier dishes (fish, for example). The beautiful 3-dimensional floral pattern runs into the back of the piece!
I think my attraction to this pattern dates back to my childhood (once again, eh?!) when my mother gifted a serving set in this pattern to her sister on the event of my aunt's 25th (silver) wedding anniversary. I had gone into a silver shop with her looking for something special and after looking through many, many choices, my mother selected this pattern. My aunt was thrilled with her gift and I was 'hooked' on this pattern forever more. It was and still is my favorite.
This example is in excellent vintage condition. No way of dating it specifically, but the pattern patent design dates to 1901 and has been discontinued for a long time. It fits right in the middle of the Art Nouveau period of design and certainly incorporates the features that distinguish that time frame.
The spoon has not been wheel polished so retains a warm patina and just enough natural tarnishing in the crevices to enhance the 3D quality of the pattern.
The bowl part measures approx. 3 7/8" x 2 3/4". Great for serving everything from salad, to fish to...you name it! Very versatile.
It is in excellent condition with very light signs of wear. On the reverse there is a very tiny area (approx. 1/4" x 1/4") of gold wash wear.
Also, this piece will go beautifully with the Les Six Fleurs serving spoon we recently listed (separately as item twt3865 shown in last photo).
