This bust dates from 1882-1912 and was made by the Bros Urbach company from the well-known Turn Teplitz area. Prior to World War I, this area was part of Germany and many potteries worked in that area (two such companies were the Alexandra Works, founded by Ernst Wahliss, and The Amphora Porcelain Works, run by Reissner, Stellmacher, and Kessel) .
This elegant piece has been beautifully modelled and finished in rich, colorful, jewel-like glazes. It dates from the 1880's. The comb or tiara in her hair as well as some other areas are finished in a golden glaze.
Here the beautiful woman is shown along with a mandolin and sheet music. We can envision her set atop a beautiful pedestal as a focal point of a living area. Can't you?
