Not sure of the wood but so lightweight that they must be carved of balsa wood and very nicely painted.
Clearly one is a beefeater, one a Civil War Union soldier, and we guess that the one on the left is a Revolutionary War soldier. All in good condition. Nicely carved and with some added applied features (like canteen, belt buckle, buttons, etc.
The two tallest ones are approx. 7 3/4" and the shortest, 6 3/4".
There are no signatures or other maker's marks - bought out of a house several years ago. Has a folk-art feel to them.
