We purchased this plaque with the advanced collector in mind. It has a manufacturing flaw (fissure on the lady's neck) and a broken (missing) hand on the angel.
What makes this plaque very unusual is the particular (pitchfork) Volkstedt mark which is 19th century. There is no 'Germany' mark.
The plaque measures 6" x 4" and is about 1" thick because of 3-dimensional figures. It depicts a beautiful woman floating in the clouds with an angel alongside her. She appears to be dumping (!!) a basket full of flowers on the angel.
The other very unusual thing is that this plaque, although very small, has two hanging rings. We've never seen two rings, no matter how large the plaque! This might also be an indication of the early production when the factory might not have perfected their techniques. True for the fissure on the neck as well.
