This Kutani charger dates from the 1800s and is in excellent condition. It is one of a pair (the second is listed separately as twt3465 and they are shown together in the last photo).

The central design depicts the 7 lucky Gods. The plaque designs are the same but the execution varies slightly from one to the other. The gold patterned area on the brown is raised and done in that inimitable manner the Japanase have with their Kutani and Satsuma pottery finishes.

The design is what we'd typically refer to as "Aesthetic Period" where insets appear to be postcard shaped snapshots of typical ethnic scenes and scenery. Beautifully composed and assembled the design is very pleasing.

It measures 12" in diameter and is 2" deep.

The pair look fabulous together!
