This item, along with item #twt3094, is the largest and best condition articulated fish we have ever seen! It measures 7" long and the fantail is 5" wide by 4" long!!
It is in very good, vintage condition. The last photo shows it alongside #twt3094 (the last photo shows this one alongside that one). Notice how this color blue is so vibrant.
The wonderful googly eyes are also referred to as 'telescoping' eyes - a true sign of a vintage fish. New ones are not made the same.
It is marked under the tail with an impressed 'silver' mark as well as "Made in China". A typical 'large' fish is around 3 1/2" and this being twice the size is indeed a sight to behold!
When viewed from the bottom, this one is missing the two front fins which is what accounts for the lower price compared to #twt3094. Also, the price reflects some enamel losses. The former owner informed us that one fin was missing so they chose to remove the other to keep it symmetrical. Mentioned here for thoroughness only as this does not in any way affect the displayability or beauty of this piece.
The body color is a beautiful, vibrant, and bright ocean blue.
The enormous tale is wavy and undulating and has two folds that have been accomplished by adding separate pieces.
The entire piece is gold washed on sterling grade silver. It weighs an amazing 114 gms.
There is a chain with a bail so that it can be hung for decoration.
We hope you can appreciate the rareity of this find and can understand that this can become the heart of a very fine collection. In a lifetime you may never see another like it! There is one currently at auction in orange that is missing the top fin as well as bottom fins and is listed for over $1,000.00!
