Still worthy of wearing proudly, this wonderful Atkins butterfly pin shows beautifully from a small distance, but sadly has been repaired.
'Picked' for me as being in excellent condition, it has flaws that can be felt and seen. Again...perfect for wearing, but certainly not as a prized specimen in an otherwise perfect collection. It is most definitely worth the price we are asking - consider it an 'entry' level acquisition to a collection. Keep in mind that if this pin was in excellent condition it would be in the $700-900.00 price range.
It is a great size at 2 5/8" x 2" and has that wonderful shape I refer to as 'angel wings'. The enamel colors are great - deep rust (orange-y red) with an almost metallic gold shade, with black veining.
It is hallmarked on the reverse with the JA&S letters impressed and the words 'sterling silver' in an oval shape and the numbers 2577 (the significance of those numbers is unknown but might designate the shape and size).
The last photo shows a duplicate of the second photo with 3 black stars that are placed near the areas where damage has been 'repaired' which does make it wearable. That is, the lower right corner and the top areas near the body.
We have many other butterfly pins in all price ranges - most in mint condition so please make sure to look and to 'subscribe' to our shop so you will be notified of changes.
