For every 1000 floral or scenic decorated Nippon Noritake vases there might be one painted with this subject and in this style.
Art Deco period decoration originated in Europe and Japan years earlier than it arrived in America. Noritake used the hallmark found on this vase from 1911-21 which perfectly jives with that decorating factor.
When first you look at this vase you have to be taken with the large size, beautiful four-handled form, and the stunning and bold enamel painting and gilt trim. Secondly, you will note the excellent condition of all the features.
The stunning dragons and other decorative elements are incised into the porcelain and painted with heavily applied opaque glazes/enamels which echo cloisonne technique. A truly masterful work of art - museum worthy!
The vase measures 11" high x 7" across. The neck opening is 3 1/2" in diameter. The base diameter is 4 1/4". The vase weighs over 3 pounds.
