This handsome guy was made sometime between 1885 and 1914 and may have been the inspiration for other company's making figural items (such as Royal Bayreuth).
It is porcelain modelled into the form of a rooster with its top comb the rim and spout and its brightly feathered body the container.
There are no chips, cracks, repairs, etc. It measures 5 3/4" x 4" and as you can see in the photograph, it has a stamped "Germany" mark on the base. We have added a pencilled arrow to indicate where we see extremely faint impressed points that are part of crown over a star which is the Schafer & Vater hallmark.
This size is quite large for S&V figural pitchers and it is a great, sought after subject.
Please note that we have several other S&V pieces as well as several Royal Bayreuth figural items listed.
