This unusual clock has a rather exotic flare. The robin's egg blue French enamel work is decorated with oriental, chinoiserie themes. At first we thought it was Egyptian revival period but the pagoda like designs on the sides and the quasi Chinese - quasi Arabic looking scroll designs confuses the style, but in balance it harkens more to the Chinoiserie motifs.
This is a miniature mantle clock design with blue and black enamel on gilt bronze/brass (ormolu). The enamel is in excellent condition as is 99% of the metal (see photo of left corner where you can see brighter gilding than on other areas). The clock face and enamelled hands are also in excellent condition.
The clock measures 3 1/4" x 2 3/4 high and is 1" deep.
The clock face is a textured gold metal and the hands have a rather art deco enamelled geometric design. When we acquired this clock it was working but now is not. It is being sold in the "as is" condition. We had one of our "clock guys" look it over and he estimates that to clean, overhaul, and repair would cost $100-200.00. The lower end is to another dealer while the upper end is to a "retail" customer off the street.
