This beautiful serving bowl bears several markings including an impressed Sterling mark. It also bears the Redlich & Co. of NY hallmark (1895-1946) as well as the retailers mark of W.W. Wattles of Pittsburgh, Pa.
The ornate border feature scrolls and forget-me-knot flowers. The border is also pierced in areas. It is a "navette" shape - long and pointed at the end. It measures 14 5/8" long x 6 1/8" wide x 2 1/2" high.
The center bottom is monogrammed. It appears to be fancy letters of "F" "A" "W". There is no decoration on the back side.
This bowl weighs 14.1 oz.
We wish we could say that it was in excellent condition but at one of the pointed ends where the base meets the sloping sides there is a noticeable crease. There are also 4 pinpoint sized "dings" scattered around the bottom.
Please note that the imperfect condition certainly affects the value, but not the usefulness of this bowl. Anything you choose to put in it will cover the crease and dings and leave you with an extravagantly elegant service piece (just make sure to replenish the goodies before it goes empty!!).
