If you've looked through my shop before, then you know that whenever we can, we carry Marius Hammer enamels. The easiest way to describe his work is to say that he was to Norway what Georg Jensen was to Denmark. Everyone has heard of Jensen, but not everyone is familiar with Marius Hammer. They were contemporaries although Jensen did not do enamel work which is what Hammer is most well known for doing.
This bracelet is a very good, entry-level piece for anyone wishing to collect Marius Hammer and who loves enamel. The navette shaped links are in a pale blue enamel on gilt silver with an underlying guilloche pattern. The silver content is higher than the standard of 925 for sterling at 930.
The bracelet measures 7 1/4" x 3/8". It has an attached safety chain. Overall condition is quite good but as you will note in the photos the very tip of 3 links are nicked. Very minor nicks, but definitely worthy of mention. In between the enamel links are open flower forms with a raised "pearl" in the center. This "pearl" is a raised dollop of silver. Often found enamelled in other Hammer work, here it remains the color of the gilded silver.
