With a wonderful rococo cartouche-y rim, this Delft blue and white handpainted round center graduates to new and wonderful heights of beauty. To take the photos, I hung it on a wall in my home and was flat out gaga over it! Too bad that blue does not go with my decor! Otherwise it would not be for sale here! That beautiful rim is very 3-D and you will see in the photos the many floral, scroll, and trellis details.
It measures a huge 24" x 20" and will fast become the focal point of any wall in your home.
It has a hallmark on the reverse which is blue underglaze and fuzzy. Under magnification we think we can make out the words Bonn (or possibly Bern) and Germany. That would indicate the area but not the specific maker and we were unable to identify the maker associated with the shape of the mark. Interestingly enough Bonn and Bern, Germany are very near the Holland border so it is very possible that this was done there.
The plaque is in amazingly good condition with the exception of the restoration/chip on the very bottom (shown clearly in one of the photos). I urge you to look at the photo where you can clearly see that the chipped area in no way interferes with the beauty and displayability of this piece. Because of it, however, it is priced considerably less than if it were in perfect condition(estimate $1,200.00-2,000.00). Don't forget to factor in the very large size and unique shape.
