This lovely valentine features the blue forget-me-nots so typical of these German die cut cards. It also features pink ones! Closed, the message says simply, "To My Valentine" with a placard of white doves on a flowering branch. Opened there are several layers. The first is a very 3-D looking pink rose.
The second layer shows the girl attaching pink roses to a large shiney red heart.
The third layer is an arch of blue forget-me-nots, and the last, backing layer, has a lattice work of pink forget-me-nots on an ornate scrolly easel framework.
It is marked Germany on the back. It measures 7 1/4" x 4 1/2".
There are two condition issues. The first is the layer with the pink flowers. There is a chunk of the pink flowers that were taped on for the photo that are present but off. And a missing section of the pink flower area. The other is that the paper tape that keeps the 3rd and 4th layers attached has separated and needs to be taped.
The easel repair is very easy (done with paper tape). The pink flower area can also be taped. The missing area is not noticeable when the pink section is taped on.
Priced reduced accordingly. This is a turn of the century, German card and is very rare and has great subject. Formerly priced at $45.00, we are making a pricing allowance due to the condition issues.
