In excellent condition, this definitive volume elaborately describes the life work of Frederick Carder - the famed Steuben technician and designer. It includes his many achievements in the world of glassmaking.
The book includes 400 photos over 80 of which are in full color as well as a 7,000 image catalog of line drawings.
This is book is used as the definitive guide to identifying Steuben forms - often from the line drawing catalog. Many pieces were sent out of the factory to other decorating houses for the application of silver overlay, for example, or other embellishments not done by the Steuben company. Carder was Steuben's ultimate leader and founder of the Steuben Glass works.
Carder developed the now well known iridescent aurene finish as well as Tyrian, Verre de Soie, Cyprian, Ivrene, etc. Many of these have never been duplicated!
