This pin features its original gold plating and is done on 800 (continental silver 800/1000 parts pure silver vs. "sterling" which is 925/1000 parts pure silver). It is marked "800" on the pin. Most likely made in Italy where much of this type of filigree work is created.
It is really strikingly pretty as it is very 3 dimensional and can easily be worn with other yellow gold pieces. Its wingspan is a hair under 2 1/2" x 1 1/2". It features a (slightly bent) safety clasp on the reverse. There are touches of white enamel which truly enhance this beautifully filigreed pin.
Last photo shows an even larger one of these paired with it! Spectacular display. The larger one is listed separately.
