This pin was purchased in the mid-60's at the Brooklyn Museum of Art. At that time, the buyer for the museum gift shop had an amazing eye and foresight to bring in wonderful jewelry from Mexico. It really was a mecca for artisan crafted wares. If you like the look of this brooch, you should know that it is even better "on" the wearer. It lies totally flat against whatever you are wearing and really "pops".
The sterling silver is accented by round cabochon turquoise colored stones at the tips of the "arms" and a large stone in the center. The stones are turquoise or possibly amazonite. Either way, the stones are a perfect complement to the shiny sterling silver. It is marked on the reverse "Taxco Mexico 925) with the initials "LCV" in the center. It has a secure safety clasp. It measures approx. 3" x 2".
