Details- This early 20th Century Beshir Rug is in excellent condition. Beshir is a Turkomen tribe with a weaving tradition in Afghanistan. Unlike other Turkomen and Afghan carpets of the region the rugs are less geometric and have more vibrant colors. Goat hair can be used in the foundation and the rugs giving a dark fringe often with a large kilim or flat woven end. The designs are distinct featured allover often times intricate repetative motifs and a characteristic absence of the use of Guls or repeativing geometric medallions like classic Bokhara rugs.
