Straight from a fine Houston, Texas estate is this ornately carved Victorian oak secretary desk which is in very good to excellent condition. It measures an impressive 8 feet in height, 50" wide and about 19" deep when closed. The piece features great carving on the top, the inset in the drop-down door that serves as a writing area when opened and on the two doors at the bottom. Behind the two doors is a lot of storage area. Additionally the top display area has heavy beveled glass that catches the light beautifully. The shelves behind the beveled glass are adjustable by moving supports that rest on saw tooth designed boards on the sides. The top lock has been removed, a small piece of trim is gone that was used to conceal the space between the ornate bottom doors and there are a few minor dings but the piece displays gorgeously and makes an impressive statement as well as being a functional desk with several drawers and cubby holes. The writing surface appears to be leather and is in very good condition.
